They say changes are beneficial in a lot of ways. Changes can be superficial, deep, concerned with image, functionality, style or a mix of all these. Changes are triggered by will or necessity. Taking into account the small philosophy above, we, the RSJoomla team, have redesigned the way our site looks and acts. The old website had a rusty look and not to mention that it was rather difficult to navigate. Of course, we knew all this, but the time was short and we had a lot of ongoing projects, such as RStickets! and the constant improvements for RSform!Pro.

Sometime during July, Octavian (in order to see the full team, please read About Us) approached me and said "We need to change our website". So work began. Octavian built the first user interface and, along with Alex, developed the template. The work was hard, as we also had to provide support, bug-fixes and new features to our products. Work stopped for a while.

In October, we resumed work. Everything was redesigned from the ground up, including product documentation, licensing system, checkout procedure, etc. In some areas, we used our own components (for the support & help desk system we used RStickets! and for collecting various data through forms, we used RSform!Pro). Also, during this time, trying to find different Joomla extensions that would fit our needs, we discovered the lack of decent specialized components for Joomla 1.5, thus giving us new project opportunities for 2009.

So, in order to summarize, the "new face" of RSJoomla provides:
  • a new, fresh look
  • an improved interface, that allows quick access to required information
  • redesigned products knowledge-bases, by adding and updating articles
  • a new shopping cart system
  • the blog, where we can keep in touch with customers and Joomla enthusiasts
As I said above, we haven't changed only the looks and functionalities, but also our philosophy. With the new site we will pay more attention to our forum that was considered with lesser priority previously. Even if we still don't provide official support on the forum, it's a good way to provide solutions for general problems and to keep in touch with our customers. We have also refined our support policy, license agreement, privacy policy and refund policy. In all of the above documents, we tried to better delimit some situations, while of course keeping flexibility and an open mind.

To wrap things up, I would like to remind the reader our base idea: RS = Really Simple. Why? Because all smart things in life are simple.
